Tacos are just the beginning! Mexican Cuisine is as diverse and complex as the country itself, informed by its history, climate, and people. On this tour, we will deep dive into tortillas, tamales, moles, chocolate, barbacoa, tacos, traditional growing methods and cooking techniques! We will eat, learn, laugh, and relax.

Designed for travellers who love to learn, cook, taste, and share, this culinary-focused journey offers a delicious and deeply rewarding way to experience Mexico.

We will start our exploration in Mexico City, which is equally famous for its cultural monuments as its vivid street life. We will experience both with a hands-on culinary workshop, guided food tastings, a sunrise boat ride, and tours of both Teotihuacán and the National Museum of Anthropology.

Next, we head south to Cholula, stopping at Tlaxcala on the way for a hands-on tamale and tortilla workshop with a local community, including a visit to the community seed bank. A trip to Puebla, with its baroque architechure and famous moles, will follow the next day.

Moving south to Oaxaca, famous for its rich gastronomic traditions, we will continue our deep dive into Mexican cuisine with two cooking classes, a market tour, and a visit to the cloud forest community of Sierra Norte.

The tour will allow plenty of time for relaxing, shopping, and exploration along with our culinary and cultural adventures.

Heidi’s Chinatown Tour is personal, informative and inspiring. I felt like I had been on a micro-holiday. Afterwards, I went straight back to the shops to gather some supplies to feed my refreshed enthusiasm for Asian cooking.
