In 2009, Chef Heidi was the winner of the first ever “Best in the City” Cooking Class Award, and has won this title again in 2010 and 2011. She was awarded the Foodie’s Foodie award at the 2011 EAT Magazine Exceptional Eats Food & Drink Awards for her contribution to food education in the city of Victoria.
Heidi’s passion for the health of her family and of the environment has led her to become a food activist. She is a longtime supporter of local food systems and sustainable agriculture. Heidi puts her money where her heart is and buys locally produced and organic food for both her family and her business.
Heidi is a member of the Island Chef’s Collaborative, Slow Food Canada, the BC Food Systems Network, and the LifeCycles Project Society, and served on the Board of Directors for LifeCycles from 2004 to 2007. Heidi also teaches local food courses at Royal Roads University. Her numerous articles on cooking and food have been published in EAT Magazine since 2003. Her popular food blog won several people’s choice-style awards in 2011 and 2012. She has been an invited speaker and workshop facilitator for many different organizations and events.
Heidi lives in Victoria with her husband and two young sons, who definitely find Thai food too spicy.

“Heidi's cooking classes are worth the price for the meal alone. Her wonderful instruction and recipes are like a free bonus. It is a wonderful way to spend an evening ~ just like having friends over for dinner.”

“Heidi's culinary knowledge, creativity and energy make her a wonder to watch in the kitchen. It is a sensory delight to partake of her creations. After taking only one class, I'm committed to taking all her classes over the next couple years.”
